About Elizabeth Zenger, Ph.D., L.Ac.
Elizabeth Zenger, Ph.D., L.Ac., is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with offices in NW Portland. She is certified in Classical Five Element Acupuncture, a unique and powerful system of healing, distinct from other forms of acupuncture, which treats the underlying energetic causes of illness and restores harmony to body, mind and spirit.
Dr. Zenger is also certified in Zero Balancing, a hands-on body work system, which aligns energy with physical structure in the body.
She is also a Board-certified (NCCAOM) Chinese herbalist.
Some of the reasons people seek out treatment include:
- chronic illnesses (chronic pain, allergies, migraine headaches, high blood pressure, etc.)
- psycho-emotional conditions (depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.)
- stress management, general well-being and preventive health care
- reducing or avoiding the use of pharmaceutical medication
Prior to studying acupuncture and oriental medicine, Dr. Zenger worked in public health for many years, and holds a Ph.D. in public health from the Johns Hopkins University. Her work included nearly four years in China, inspiring a deep appreciation of classical Chinese culture and healing arts. As a Western health care professional, she came to believe that Asian healing arts fill a much-needed place in the West - offering genuine healing for mind, body and spirit that goes beyond conventional therapies. Dr. Zenger is dedicated to promoting and manifesting the spirit of classical Asian healing arts through her clinical work, writing and teaching.
